JHDrums - Drum Lessons, Drum Covers, Drum Jams & More

Welcome, and thanks for visiting!

This site serves as a hub for drummer Jon Hill. A young, 17 year-old musician out of Raleigh, North Carolina, who’s amazing drum covers have set a new standard for quality, accuracy, and difficulty. Here you will find the best video drum covers, step-by-step drum lessons for every drummer, personal drum jams, and more!

Incredibly, Jon is capable of transcribing the drums within a song note by note, just by listening to the piece through a set of headphones. He then turns around and performs it, beginning to end, all in one take. This talent sets him apart from other online drummers and has earned him quite an enthusiastic following.

Here’s what they’ve had to say about his playing-

I can’t help but notice on all these songs that the one trait that you have that I don’t see in many drummers is your confidence. You can tell when you’re playing that you never second guess yourself, every hit is precise and you mean to do everything you do. This makes for a great sound and it’s fun to watch, and know that you know what you’re doing. -from Tool – “Lateralus” (Drum Cover)

I’ve watched this video over 100 times and I still can’t help but shake my head and smile… Best drum piece I’ve ever heard and you make it look effortless. Well, nice chatting bro. Gotta hit the play button again. -from Tool – “Rosetta Stoned” (Drum Cover)

I really NEVER post but just have to say on this occasion; This is excellent. Perfect execution. You made it look effortless and clearly have a gift. Keep it going. -from The Mars Volta – “Roulette Dares” (Drum Cover)

See these are the covers that I like. This isn’t some 13 year old kid playing with crappy audio quality who thinks he’s good but he sucks. No, this is a 13 year old kid who actually IS good, scratch that, AMAZING and makes polyrhythms look easy. I have to give you so much credit because this is the best drum cover I’ve seen on YouTube. You have so much potential and you are so talented. I hope this talent gets you far in life, because you truly deserve it, and I actually am jealous! -from Tool – “The Grudge” (Drum Cover)

Jon chooses to perform covers of songs that highlight some of today’s most revered drummers. Drummers such as Danny Carey of Tool, Jon Theodore of The Mars Volta, Cliff Sarcona of As Tall As Lions, and more.

For Jon, a song worth covering is one that presents a challenge to the mind, and explores the dichotomy of what’s been done, and what’s possible.
